Ms. Meryl M. Lanson,

Dear Ms. Lanson:

Thank you for your recent letter. I am sorry to learn of your displeasure with the Florida Bar and a Florida judge.

As you may know, the Florida Constitution limits my authority over the courts and the judicial system. My suggestion to you is seek counsel from a capable private attorney.

If you believe a judge has engaged in judicial misconduct, you may wish to contact the Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC). The commission, however, only considers situations where it is alleged that a judge’s personal conduct and behavior violated the Code of Judicial Conduct. All complaints must be put in writing. The commission’s address is Room 102, The Historic Capitol, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-1581.

Thank you again for writing. I am sorry to learn of the problems you are facing and wish I could be of more assistance. Please know this is due to lack of jurisdiction, not lack of concern.
