Honorable Major B. Harding
Chief Justice
Supreme Court of Florida
500 South Duval Street
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-1925

Dear Justice Harding:

Thank you for your response to my letter regarding the Florida Bar’s dereliction of duty in instituting disciplinary actions against attorneys Ronald C. Kopplow and Marc Cooper. You state in that letter that you "cannot become directly involved in this matter because there are established procedures for instituting disciplinary actions against attorneys". Please know that I followed those procedures exactly as set forth by The Florida Bar. I wrote to you because The Florida Supreme Court is the governing body of The Florida Bar. I believe it is The Florida Supreme Court’s duty to initiate a full investigation when allegations of misconduct are presented against its agency. Documentation supporting my allegations was presented with my letter.

Justice Harding, I know that you are a very busy and important man handling many crucial issues but I cannot stress to you enough the severity and importance of this situation. I trust that you will give it the full attention it warrants and deserves for I would never want you to be in a position that might cause you any undue professional embarrassment. I believe our passions flow in the same direction - that above all else the public’s interests and rights need to be protected.

I believe The Florida Bar’s decision not to discipline Ronald Kopplow represents an undisclosed conflict of interest. I believe I have the right to have an acceptable and impartial panel review this disciplinary action. It is within your power to grant my request.

I await your response.

Respectfully submitted,

Meryl M. Lanson
